Quasimoto - Come on Feet

Madlib is the king of abstract instrumentals and vocals. His alter ego Quasimoto is so unique in the hip-hop world that his songs like Come on Feet are in a genre of their own.  Quasimoto to the hip-hop world is equivalent to what abstract paintings are to the art world.  It’s extremely beautiful in a very chaotic, yet controlled and calculated manner.  Every note has a specific purpose in filling the canvas with aesthetic beauty and meaning. Come On Feet is one of my favorite songs off of Madlib’s 2000 album The Unseen.

I realize most people don’t have an inherent appreciation for this kind of music.  It’s not the kind of musical genre you can just jump into without hearing anything like it before and think, “holy shit this is amazing!” It’s like jumping into a pool of cold water. At first your senses don’t appreciate such an extreme environment; however, your body’s senses inherently adjust to the abnormalness, and after some time you can finally begin to enjoy and appreciate your environment.  Obviously not all people are like this, just most.
